Inspired by the themed exhibition put on by the IVAM under the title “Confines”, Meritxell Barberá and Inma García proposed the risky task of adapting the classical Swan Lake to a purely contemporary body language. Taiat posed the challenge of making an unlimited formal and stylistic transformation, adapting the traditional choreography of several selected scenes from the original work. The symbology that infuses Swan Lake, namely the search for love, is resuscitated through this work and the characters of Prince Sigfreid, the white swan Odette, the ruthless black swan Odile and the evil magician Rothbart. In simple style the four dancers present the story of impossible love between Sigfreid and Odette, the ideas of love and sickness, reason and madness, passion and regret.
