Turning Eighties is a work by choreographers Meritxell Barberá and Inma García for the Ballet Hispánico of New York. They draw their particular memory of the cultural, artistic and social scene of the eighties in Spain, known as “La Movida”.
The staging, the landscape of movement and the texture of this work invite to know from the childhood memories of both the choreographers and the musician, the content and the meaning of this sociocultural movement in the history of Spain. The focus on body, character, space, music and, of course, dance, defines this work.
Turning Eighties was created in New York in the summer of 2012.
